A report from DigiTimes claims LG was put in the position of having to reduce its shipment of panels for tablet computers due to light leakage issues.
Various tech publications have pointed out the iPad 2 has suffered a light leakage problem since release – although LG is now expected to resume shipping in the second quarter, according to DigiTimes sources.
As a result, AU Optronics will increase its shipment of panels this year to pick up the slack.
Sources in the report also said Chimei Innolux has been selected as another supplier, although it is still waiting for a final approval. The company will also start producing tablet panels.
