Credit card giant Visa will make an announcement about its mobile payments strategy within days, according to All Things Digital.
Executive chairman and chief executive Joseph Saunders said an announcement would be made as soon as next week during the company’s conference call.
The move comes after Visa invested in Square, the payments company started by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.
Visa has been trialling mobile payment systems in several cities across the world, including in Melbourne where it has used iPhones to trial contactless payment systems.
The hints come as MasterCard and PayPal are also hard at work developing their own mobile schemes.
