Sydney ferries now with free WiFi

Passengers on Sydney ferries will now be able to access free WiFi hotspots, the state Government announced yesterday.

In a statement, transport minister John Robertson said the First Fleet ferries, which includes the Charlotte, Golden Grove, Scarborough, Borrowdale, Friendship and the Manly ferries will now have free WiFi hotspots.

Other ferries with WiFi include Balmain, Birchgrove, Balmain West, Woolwich, Greenwich, Milsons Point, Kirribilli, Cremorne Point, Neutral Bay and Pyrmont Bay.

“Last year we commenced a trial of free WiFi on the Manly ferry and more than 140,000 people logged on, and took advantage of the service,” he said.

“As a result, free WiFi is being extended from today, to nine extra vessels and almost 1,500 extra services per week.”

Each passenger will be able to access 30 minutes of access, or up to 30MB of bandwidth.
