LivingSocial managed to beat rival Groupon for traffic last week after it advertised a deal for $10 Amazon gift cards, new data from Hitwise has revealed.
The deal was the biggest out of any of the group-buying sites and managed to rake in $US13 million for the company, of which Amazon is a key investor.
According to Mashable, new data from Hitwise shows traffic rose by 80% to 0.018% of all US visits on the web last week. Groupon actually lost 20% of traffic, down to 0.035% of all US visits.
While the spike in traffic is likely to subside now the deal is over, it may give LivingSocial enough of a boost to challenge Groupon.
