Bruce Lakin steps down from ACS

Bruce Lakin has stepped down as chief executive of the Australian Computer Society, saying differing opinions among board members was responsible for the decision.

“After being with the society for a bit over a year, there were differences between myself, the president and management committee over governance and strategy,” Lakin told ITNews.com.au.

“Under the circumstances, it is best for the society that the CEO steps down.”

The company has reportedly already started searching for a replacement. Lakin will step down in April, meaning his entire placement at the company comes in at less than 18 months.

President Anthony Wong said Lakin had contributed “significant achievements” and “leaves with our best wishes”.

“He has achieved significant improvement in the operations of the Society and advanced the relevancy and value proposition of the ACS to its members and key stakeholders, resulting in strong membership growth.”
