Microsoft to release wave of patches

Software giant Microsoft is set to release 17 updates tomorrow in order to fix up vulnerabilities in its Windows software, among other applications.

The patches have all been classified as either critical or important, with one labelled as having “moderate” importance.

Each of the patches will affect various pieces of software including the Windows Office suite, SharePoint, Exchange and Internet Explorer. The release is an unusually large one, as Microsoft usually releases only a handful of patches every Tuesday.

Several of the updates will require computer administrators to restart their systems.

The company also said it will release updated versions of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool on Windows Update, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services, and the Download Centre.
