iPhone App of the Week: TiltShift Generator

The sheer number of iPhone apps dedicated to photography is too much for any one user, but there are some gems among the thousands of duds and TiltShift Generator is one of them.

If you’re using a tilt-shift lens for a camera, you’re looking at several hundred dollars for a decent model. But the TiltShift Generator app allows you to convert any photography you have into a fake tilt-shift image.

Users can choose an image in the library, or use the app on photos taken in the moment. The app then prompts you to select the areas to focus, and then creates a fake depth of field by blurring the majority of the image.

You can then share the images via social networking.

Of course, the app doesn’t let you take tilt-shift photos and the effect won’t be the same as if you had spent thousands on a lens, but for $1.19 it’s a decent effect that will make your iPhone photos more interesting.
