Among the many weird and quirky gadgets unveiled at the recent Consumer Electronics Show were some designed to improve the everyday activities of businesses and individuals.
One of these is the new ioSafe Solo solid state hard drive, which is designed to be fit in a case which can protect the data against an onslaught of fire, water and even weight.
The company demonstrates the new hard drive in a video. At a test site in the Nevada desert, representatives from the company place the hard drive in a case, which is then lit on fire for several seconds, and then spray the case from a heavy-duty fire hose.
Finally, the case is then run-over with a full-size tractor.
However, at the end of the demonstration the hard drive is connected to a MacBook and works perfectly. But just to be sure – the drive comes with a data recovery plan.
