Online retailer Amazon is expected to release a new version of its e-reader device, the Kindle, which will allow for magazine and newspaper reading.
Amazon has scheduled a press conference in New York at the 19th century site of the New York Times‘s headquarters, and is expected to feature an appearance by Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger junior.
The Times is rumoured by analysts to be a partner in introduce the larger Kindle device.
The current device has only a six-inch screen and is used for reading e-books, but has been used by paying subscribers to read versions of the Wall Street Journal, the Times, and a range of magazines.
The Kindle has received praise from newspapers, including News Corp chief executive and media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
