Boot Armour’s Rich Harley on the e-commerce software helping kids kick goals: My Best Tech

Rich Harley is the founder of Boot Armour, a company that makes an elastic and water-resistant sleeve designed to cover kids’ footy boots.

The technology we use is mostly around sales. We’re an online store, so we built up our website using WordPress. The reason for that is that the plugins allow us to add new functionality down the track.

One of the plugins we use, for the e-commerce system, is called WooCommerce, and one of the great things about it is that it allows you to print directly to a Dymo printer. When we get sales, I process them and send them out myself, so having a Dymo printer and connecting it directly to WooCommerce is super helpful in that process.

For our payment platform, we actually started off with PayPal, but then moved to Braintree. With PayPal, it took our customers away from the Boot Armour site to complete their order, but for a lot of our customers, it’s simpler just to stay on our website. Braintree allows us to do that.
