Apple set to unveil iPads and Retina iMacs at October 16 event

Apple is set to have another launch event a little over a month after launching its iPhone 6, with the company rumoured to be preparing to unveil updates to its iMac and iPad product line at the event.

9tofiveMac reports Apple is in the final stages of testing new iMacs featuring ultra-high-resolution Retina Displays, potentially with 5K displays, as well as improved WiFi antennas and faster processors.

The company is also reportedly working on updates to both iMovie and Final Cut Pro that will allow the video editing packages to handle 4K footage.

Meanwhile, Re/Code reports that along with an update to its iMac product line, Apple will also release Mac OS X Yosemite and updates to its iPad product line.

According to the report, the event will take place on October 16, rather than October 23 as some media outlets has initially suggested.

However, the October event will be scaled back in comparison to the September launch event, taking place at the Town Hall Auditorium at its headquarters in Cupertino, and a one-song U2 concert is unlikely to be part of the schedule.
