Apple has begun accepting submissions for apps for its upcoming Apple Watch and has also released a number of resources for businesses wanting to develop apps for the devices, ahead of its April 24 release date.
Apps for Apple Watch will need to be submitted alongside an iPhone app. Upon an Apple Watch app being approved for the App store, existing users of the iPhone app will receive an update, while a Watch app icon and description will appear in the App Store.
Businesses wishing to create apps for the devices are advised to use the latest version of Xcode 6, which includes the iOS 8.2 SDK with WatchKit. Meanwhile, the developer resources also include best practice development tips for apps, and a full programming guide that explains how to create Apple Watch apps.
“A small group of people who currently have an Apple Watch will be able to use your WatchKit app before April 24, so make sure your back end systems are ready,” Apple also warns developers.
