A Senate inquiry was set up to investigate the Albanese government’s refusal to approve extra flights into Australia sought by Qatar Airways but broadened its scope.
Labor has also allowed the ACCC’s airline monitoring brief to lapse, meaning there is no regular oversight of the kind that identified Qantas’s price-gouging.
ACCC is investigating a "number of complaints" about Qantas and warned if "evidence of misleading statements" was found, the watchdog would act accordingly.
