The Andrews Labor government says it plans to make payroll tax “fairer” for Victorian small businesses by lifting the payroll tax-free threshold in two stages over the next two years. 

Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas has today unveiled the state's post-pandemic budget, announcing a raft of measures to support small businesses including changes to payroll tax.

The Victorian government will begin refunding payroll tax payments to businesses across the state this week as part of its economic stimulus package in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
