A clean energy technology company based in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales has become the first company to secure investment from the $540 million Australian Business Growth Fund (ABGF). 

The Australian Business Growth Fund is close to signing the dotted line on its first investment, as it starts acting on its mission to help the nation’s SMEs grow. 

Former New South Wales premier Mike Baird has been appointed to chair the federal government’s Business Growth Fund.

The federal government and Australia's major banks have committed $540 million to the freshly minted Business Growth Fund, which will offer capital to high-potential SMEs and startups.

The government has committed $100 million in taxpayer money to a new growth fund which would seek to turbocharge high-growth-potential SMEs.
