How to keep Windows updated

Keeping your Windows operating system updated is one of the most important factors in caring for your PC. But if you’re new to Windows 7 you should take a few minutes and make sure everything is up to speed.

To find the update window, type “Windows Update” into the search bar in the Start menu. The window will come up and you should find it easier to change your preferences.

If you click “Change Settings”, you’ll be taken to a window where you’ll be able to control some elements of how your updates are managed.

The default setting is to “Install updates automatically”, but you can change the time settings below that option. If you aren’t using your computer on a particular day of the week, you can have all your updates installed then.

Windows 7 also lists all the updates Windows has installed for you. If any one is causing a problem, you can right-click it and select “Uninstall”.

Make sure you keep Windows Updates on, as Microsoft will often deliver critical patches and fixes for your system.
