Only a few weeks ago, Google expanded their site links feature.
Now, if you are not aware of what site links are, the best way to find out is to do a search on your own website name. If the website has enough authority, you’d see links to other pages on your site appearing as sublinks in the search engine ranking positions.
For example, if you did a search for “StartupSmart” in google.com.au, you’d find a bunch of links directly under smartcompany.com.au.
The first logical step would be to do a search on your own brand name or website and see what links are currently being displayed. If for some reason there are some featured links there that you don’t want to appear, Google provides a neat little feature in being able to control what doesn’t get displayed amongst these links.
In order to do that, you need to log on to the Google Webmaster Tools (www.google.com/webmaster/tools) site. You can then demote certain URLs via the site configuration->sitelinks tab.
While you’re there, feel free to play around with some of the other features in Google Webmaster Tools which gives A really good insight into how well your site is performing.
