You may have seen some Windows users looking at a clock on their desktop or maybe a calendar or news ticker. Those widgets are built into the OS.
They can be quite handy, allowing you to see weather forecasts along with other pieces of information, while many more are available for download from sources apart from the Microsoft download centre.
To activate your Windows 7 desktop gadgets, go to the Control Panel. There you’ll need to click on Desktop Gadgets.
A pop-up box will appear, showing a number of gadgets you can place on the desktop, including a clock and CPU meter. Click on those you would like.
If you want to download more you can click on the “get more gadgets online” link.
If you decide you don’t like them just click the X symbol on each gadget to get rid of it.
