Learn a Royal Wedding lesson

TaskmasterIt’s here! It’s here! It’s finally here! The long-awaited Royal Wedding will give this entrepreneur the chance to do what he’s been wanting to do for weeks – sit in peace and quiet while the rest of my family watches the silly thing on television.

I’m not sure why I don’t like the royal family – perhaps I don’t like sharing the limelight with other rulers.

Nevertheless, there is one lesson I want you to take out of this whole thing – when you’ve got a big event coming up, make sure you make a very big deal out of it.

If you are holding something exciting like a franchisee of the year award or a supplier of the year event, put some effort into it.

Start talking about it weeks or months in advance. Have a weekly countdown and profile the finalists. Put a countdown clock on your website. Post on Twitter every few days with a few selected details.

The Royals are great at this – they leak information slowly, gradually build the hype and generally get everyone excited. They’ve even taken to using social media for the Royal Wedding, which is a great idea that you can use too.

So get excited – for your event of course, not theirs!

Get it done, today!
