It can be tough to stand out from the crowd as a start-up entrepreneur, so you’ve got to take every bit of publicity you can get.

And as we all know, the key to standing out is to do something different.

One clever way to get yourself a bit of attention is by implementing a bit of technology in your business and then talking about it in your industry.

For example, the first businesses to use the iPad – a lot of them were restaurants, who used the device to take orders or display menus – were able to get plenty of attention in their sector and in the mainstream media.

Similarly, early adopters of Twitter and technologies such as Foursquare have also been able to attract interest and show themselves to be thought leaders.

But remember, there are two elements here. Just using the technology is not enough – you’ve got to tell people about it and get noticed.

The best way might be a blog chronicling the trials and tribulations of the experiment, backed up with other social media posts to drive a bit of traffic.

Get it done – today!
