Tinder is weighing in on the age old “brains vs beauty” debate, with the latest version of the app letting prospective matches see each other’s job and level of education.
The startup’s CEO, Sean Rad, told Business Insider education and career are two important factors people consider when deciding whether to date one another.
In fact, a post on Tinder’s blog that announces the change, says it’s the most-requested feature by users.
“There’s a very finite set of things we look at to decide whether we want to have a conversation with someone. How you look — and what that says about your personality, common connections, career, and education – 90% of it comes down to that,” he says.
Tinder users will now have more information when choosing whether to swipe left or right as part of the update to the platform’s algorithm, which will also help users pinpoint more precisely what they have in common.
The blog also says the app will gather the job and school information from Facebook, but users will have options about how much information is shared.
Rad also says Tinder plans on sharing more information in coming months to make users better informed about potential suitors.
