An anonymous bidder has just paid more than $2.6 million for lunch with Warren Buffett, a record price that will see the US charity Glide Foundation enjoy another big funding boost.
While even the Taskmaster would struggle to get a spot in the Oracle of Omaha’s appointment book, the idea of having a lunch with a legend with eight colleagues is one that I like to copy.
Here’s what you do.
Get together a list of eight interesting people in your sector. They might be competitors, customers, suppliers or colleagues – just make sure they are good company and interesting conversationalists.
Then pick a leading figure in your industry and invite them to lunch. Tell them you’ve got a fabulously interesting group of people together, and they are prepared to pay for all the food and wine they can consume.
Chances are they’ll be as interested in attending as you and your guests are – who wouldn’t want to meet great people and get a free lunch?
Get it done – today!
