Taiwan’s Quanta Computer Inc will start mass production of Apple’s first smartwatch in July, sources told Reuters.
A commercial launch of the watch could come as early as October.
It will feature a display that likely measures 2.5 inches diagonally and is slightly rectangular, has a touch interface, wireless charging, and Apple expects to ship 50 million products within a year of release, a source said.
The watch, the name of which is unknown, will provide a production boost for Quanta. Its work up until now has focused on laptops and iPods, two product lines that are in decline.
Twitter acquires SnappyTV
Twitter has announced it has purchased SnappyTV, a video editing platform already used widely by brands and Twitter’s media partners to share video clips on Twitter.
The company says it will work to integrate SnappyTV’s product with Twitter, with the goal of helping publishers quickly share moments from events so people can experience those moments as they happen.
LinkedIn launches standalone job search app
The company has launched LinkedIn Job Search, a free iOS app that will let people search and apply for jobs on the network.
Unlike the standard LinkedIn, everything you do on the job search app remains private.
