Japanese students have designed a coat with a special belt that gives the wearer the sensation they are being hugged from behind. They say it makes everyone feel like they have a girlfriend.
Headphones wired up to the garment play recordings of a female voice saying things such as “Sorry I’m late”. The garment has been dubbed the Riajuu Coat.
“It looks like a normal coat at first sight. Users wear this coat, fasten the belt and wear the headphones,” says software engineer Kota Shinbayashi.
“In the waist, the system of the winding belt is attached. This makes the feeling that is like girlfriend hugs.”
We’re certainly not suggesting you should design a garment like the Riajuu Coat. However, it does suggest the interactive clothing trend is on the rise.
