A Swiss company has designed socks for everyday wear without shoes that make the wearer feel barefooted.
The Swiss protection socks have PVC soles that help make them cut-resistant, following a similar line for runners.
They have spaces for each toe, like gloves. Makers claim the socks will go anywhere, but would be ideal for outdoor activities such as rock climbing.
Dieter Hesch, owner of The Swiss Barefoot Company, says: “I’m very happy with it, and I even think they could become fashionable.”
“The Swiss Protection Sock (SPS) is designed for people who like to go barefoot without the risk of injury from sharp objects or the feeling of rubber soles,” the company says on its website.
“The special and patented fabric with a polyester nubbed sole offers protection from shells, broken fragments, other natural elements or dangerous objects, and offers at the same time maximum freedom as if one is only wearing a sock.”
Outdoor enthusiasts are always looking for ways to get as close to nature as possible, without hurting themselves, making the SPS a handy item. Can you think of any others?
