SpiderSense has superhuman powers to help cyclists

start-up-idea-spidersuitA body suit that lets you feel proximity to objects or lunging villains is so sensitive that, in trials, blindfolded wearers threw cardboard ninja stars at would-be attackers 95% of the time.

Small robotic arms on the SpiderSense suit put pressure on the body part under threat when microphones detect ultrasonic reflections from objects around the wearer.

Apart from helping the visually impaired, inventor Victor Mateevitsi hopes it will help cyclists by boosting their road awareness.

“When someone is punching Spider-Man, he feels the sensation and can avoid it. Our suit is the same,” says Mateevitsi.

Are there other ways in which you can help the visually impaired or cyclists in heavy traffic?
