Gyms and restaurants are set to cash in on our New Year’s resolutions, suggesting there are opportunities for start-ups to get a piece of the action.
According to IBISWorld general manager Karen Dobie, losing weight and getting fit are usually our most popular resolutions.
Dobie forecasts a boom for gyms, while our love of dining out is set to fuel strong revenue bumps for restaurants and cafés.
But Dobie says she expects tobacco industry revenue to decline as Australians try to quit smoking, while some retail sectors will see subdued growth as families attempt to balance their budgets after Christmas.
If you’ve always wanted to make a name for yourself in the fitness industry or hospitality, the start of the new year could be the perfect time to do it.
