Music lovers may no longer have to miss out on tickets to sought-after gigs, after two Melbourne University graduates set up a live concert steaming service called PlayFi Live.
The service allows artists to sell virtual tickets to gigs, and broadcast pictures and audio to punters with just a video camera, microphone and an internet connection.
Radiohead is among the big international acts that the PlayFi team plans to approach, after launching earlier this month.
According to PlayFi marketing manager Simon Moro, the platform creates an additional revenue stream for promoters and musicians, and allows more punters to see more gigs and festival acts.
Moro says The Bon Scotts have already streamed a gig via the platform, while up-and-comers Skipping Girl Vinegar has expressed interest.
“We’d like to have artists like Kimbra and Gotye using the platform as well as festivals,” Moro says.
As consumers look to save their pennies, what other events would benefit from a live streaming service?
