Advertising companies are always looking for new ways to grab the attention of consumers, but perhaps none more so than US advertising company Adzookie.com.
Adzookie.com turns homes into billboards, bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase “too close to home”.
The company only works with homes that are owned, not rented or leased. The exterior of the house is painted in bright colours featuring some form of promotional material.
The house must remain painted for at least three months, although this may be extended up to a year. In exchange for sacrificing their housefront, Adzookie.com pays the homeowner’s mortgage for the time it “occupies” the house.
If the client decides to cancel after three months or if Adzookie.com cancels its agreement, the house is repainted back to its original colours.
With so many homeowners struggling to meet their mortgage repayments in the current economic climate, any relief is typically well received.
The Adzookie.com concept is definitely off the wall (in every sense of the word) but it does raise questions about whether this idea would take off in Australia.
