Xamling

Founded by two brothers from Bendigo, Xamling is a young company with big ideas, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the web, desktop and mobile devices.

The business has worked on cutting-edge technology development projects for the likes of SBS, Microsoft, Telstra, Foxtel, Blackberry RIM, Xbox Kinect, Cochlear and SEEK.

“Both Alex and I love a good challenge and to see people’s far-out ideas come to life,” Jordan says.

“By starting Xamling, we could work with cutting-edge technologies, choose the most exciting projects and really push ourselves to always be delivering the best on the newest technologies.”

The brothers took no income from the business in the first few months, relying on savings, friends and family until the contracts began to roll in on a more regular basis.

According to Jordan, understanding the deal pipeline was the most challenging part of starting the business, but he eventually learnt how to handle it.

“While it’s easy to get excited about the current project and the latest technology – as we have grown and taken on contractors – it’s always challenging to stop and look forward to what deal is coming up next,” he says.

“I now have to remind myself to regularly take time out to work on the business, not in it.”

So what’s been the best part of starting the business?

“I can pick and choose the projects and technologies we work on, which is fantastic. The entire teams gets so excited about new technology,” he says.

“In just over two years, we have taken an idea to a company that is requested by global brands to help them create a vision.”

“We created the technology showcase that was featured at Microsoft’s annual TechEd event in the Australia and New Zealand keynote, as well as being involved in showcase technology for Microsoft and Blackberry RIM events and keynotes.”
