How Causeis started

Michelle Lelempsis was working with Australian non-profits when she realised there was a lack of technology – and experts on associations – serving the industry.

Together with John Lelempsis, she created Causeis, offering boutique consulting services to Australian industry bodies across real estate, medical, nursing and law.

With a digital focus, Causeis provides management consulting, growth consulting, data services, technology, process engineering and training.

Growth

After operating for seven years, the founders saw the real potential the business had to focus on growing its association customer base, and invested in themselves first.

That’s why they employed two consultants in 2017, and John took on the position of director of operations to zero in on growth and stability. That led to the company’s rebrand in 2019, and it has since grown year-on-year in revenue, staff, and clients.

Now its client base includes Real Estate Institute NSW, Australian College of Nursing, The Australian Institute of Architects, Christian Schools Australia, Australian College of Midwives, and The University of Sydney.

Where to next

The biggest shift in the business since starting was the movement away from primary software to cloud software-as-a-service.

Causeis repositioned in the market and helped its customer base improve on their digital strategies – putting them first – and emphasised education.

Now, the company sees its Causeis Launchpad as the future, offering a faster ROI and implementation. That’s the company’s ticket to growth and geographical expansion.

Causeis was shortlisted for the Community Award at The Smart50 Awards 2023.
