Playing the blame game is incredibly lame. As is this rhyme. But it is still true.
Even if it isn’t their fault, Power Players do not, ever, run around naming and shaming people. The power comes in rising above it and in not taking some type of sick pleasure in somebody else’s failure.
Power Players know that their power is not elevated if they take away somebody else’s. When somebody has made a monumental screw up the only thing to be done is to (a) be compassionate – it could have been you; and (b) remember that most people don’t screw up on purpose and they will feel a thousand times worse than anyone else could ever make them feel.
There is great power in moving beyond blame right through to forgiveness: even further in focusing on how to help fix the mistake. Power comes from compassion and from action.
