The first thing that goes up in smoke in any crisis is the humour. For Power Players, it’s the last.

This is what separates the great from the average. Power Players will give up almost anything before they give up their sense of humour, because they know that if they give up the funny part they’ll lose all perspective.

Seeing the funny side means you haven’t gone over to the dark side.

Power Players also know that you don’t need to look too hard to find something humorous in almost any situation. And if you can find the humour you can usually find the silver lining, too.

The other great truth about humour is that it stops you from overreacting in a tough situation. And frankly, unless it’s life threatening, nothing’s really that bad.

Humour also takes the sting out of the room and throws any threatening types off their game. If you can see the humour, you’ll keep your composure and see a way out of the mess.
