Gender has far less to do with power than most people think. The theory that men are somehow destined to have power and women are wallflowers is no truer than terror inspiring people to perform at their best.
Gender in 2013 plays no role in who we find influential and inspiring. Leaning on sex as an excuse for the absence of power or using it to become more powerful comes with stereotypes and antiquated assumptions. Removing this outdated mode of thinking opens up new doorways to power.
Smart, elegant, dignified people tend to attract power. Whether they are male or female makes no difference at all. Remember this the next time you seek to use gender as an excuse. It has little place in today’s power stakes.
