Power Play: Clever solves a problem. Wise avoids it

I love this Power Play because it cuts to the heart of what great power is all about. Power Players do a terrific job of minimising any situation that might turn into a problem.

They don’t let it get to problem status in the first place. They wisely avoid the need to pull out the brains trust big guns because they know it is easier to sidestep a problem than have to spend a chunk of time fixing one.

This is because Power Players keep one eye firmly on the future in anticipation of any potential problems that might be coming down the pipe. 

Many of us are filled with pride at having the skills to solve the problem, and we’re congratulated for this: perhaps we like to have problems to solve because it makes us feel smart. But Power Players don’t need to feel smart.

What they seek is the wisdom to know that a problem that never eventuates is better than being congratulated on solving a problem when it does. And that is true wisdom.
