Don’t be rude: The elevator rule

Don’t have business conversations in elevators. Same deal with lobbies.

If someone starts a conversation about the meeting you just walked out of as you’re getting into the elevator, evade! Talk about the weather!

Everyone listens to everything said in elevators. I mean, what else is there to do? Don’t talk shop – ever – in enclosed spaces.

I’ve been able to listen in on far more workplace gossip than I should just by listening to people as we go downstairs for lunch. It’s ridiculous. Not to mention unprofessional and naive.
