Hi Aunty B,
You wrote your start-up vows the other week, which I very much enjoyed.
I run a large tourism company and things are very tough. I feel like I am running around putting out fires and not focusing on the big things.
What would your vows be, not in a personal sense but in a business sense, for me at this time?
Neil G,
Canberra
Dear Neil,
At your service! You only need five vows – isn’t that great news!
Here are your five business vows:
I will get my head out of the day-to-day chaos that is my business and spend more than half my time thinking, reflecting, planning and building our future.
- I will spend a good chunk of my time meeting with key clients to understand how their future is changing.
- I will spend another whack of time with our key leadership team and staff seeking feedback and market intelligence and building our culture, values, strategy, execution plans and measurement tools.
- I will find more time to identify people who need to be brought into the organisation to lead our company.
- And, finally, I will allocate time to build the face of the business and its physical and online presence.
Be smart,
Your Aunty B
