Dear Aunty B,
I have a moral dilemma. I work in a large professional firm and helped one of my wife’s friends get a job as PA to a partner.
I have since observed that she is carrying on with a married man in the firm. This makes the situation very awkward as we socialise with him and his wife as a couple. I know that if I tell my wife she will tell her friend. But I also feel very uncomfortable about the hypocrisy. We are planning a golf weekend away with this couple and I would prefer not to go.
What do I do? Do I tell or do I go?
Call Me Old Fashioned
Dear Call Me Old Fashioned,
That is easy. You have suddenly fallen in love with your wife! You want to reconnect. You want her all to yourself.
Where am I going with this? You want a weekend away just with her. Park the golf and book a spa holiday with a surprise massage in your bedroom. She won’t think twice about dumping the golfing couple.
As for that other stuff? You keep your mouth shut. It is none of your business. Besides you don’t know what arrangements people have behind the closed doors of their marriage.
Now. How is business?
Good luck!
