Dear Aunty B,
I have been hoping that things would turn around. But we are stuffed unless I make some radical changes to my company. I knew we were in trouble and I put in place a plan to make changes over the next year, but the awful economy means I have to change things much more quickly.
It means changing our technology, changing products, changing direction, changing the skills of staff really quickly while letting some staff go.
I feel overwhelmed at this and don’t know where I will find the will to do it. Where do I start?
Tired, exhausted and not up to it
Dear Where do I start,
You have already begun! You have a vision! You have a plan! You have a direction! So congratulations. You are in a better place than most businesses in the universe! Tonight you are going to have Champagne. The proper stuff. In a nice glass. I will have one too. And while we watch the bubbles rise think of this. The bubbles are your future. You are forging a new company from a dying one. You are creating new skills and giving staff a future. You are taking on the hell of implementing new technology instead of relegating that to the too hard basket and patching up useless systems.
You are a hero and you will find the energy and will to do it.
So what you need to do tomorrow is make a to do list. Then you need to gather your leadership team and talk them through the plan. Yes it is going to be a big year. But you (and they) are up for it!
Here is to you, my friend
Aunty B
