I’ve committed the ultimate Christmas party faux pas! Help!

Dear Aunty B,

I have committed the ultimate Christmas party crime and ended up spending the night with a colleague!

Not only does the whole office know but my work colleague has spent the last week making sly remarks to me about it, sometimes in earshot of other colleagues. He keeps finding excuses to touch me and to be around me.

I am so embarrassed and I have been trying to downplay the whole thing down by ignoring him but it’s not going to happen. While we are both single I have no intention of spending any more time with this guy! How do I put a stop to the whole thing? I know that everyone is talking about it and I am the butt of all their jokes.

We all have two weeks off but the thought of coming back from holidays to this makes me want to stick my head in the plum pudding!

Help Aunty

Dear Help,

So what? You’ve spent a week creeping around the office so now is the time to put it behind you and tell creepy colleague to shut his mouth. Pull him aside, tell him you regret the whole incident, that it won’t happen again and that his comments are highly embarrassing. Tell him you don’t want to hear one more comment, one more innuendo, EVER. Tell him not to touch you or hang around you. Explain the professional relationship you want to have with him.

If he refuses to comply, see your boss and ask her/him to talk to your colleague. Then hold your head high and move on! It will be last year’s news after Christmas.

Good luck!
Your Aunty B
