Snapchat users in the US will soon have access to a new feature on the social media platform that will allow them to see reviews and book services related to what they see in a snap.
The Context Cards feature provides for users to swipe up on the snap they are viewing, which it turn will display information powered by a range of Snapchat partners, including TripAdvisor, Foursquare, Michelin and Goop.
“With Context Cards, snaps have become the visual starting point for learning more about the world, empowering our community to get more information about anything that catches their eye,” Snapchat advised via a blog post.
Snapchat users will also be able to use the feature to perform actions, such as calling for a ride with Uber or Lyft, or reserving a table through OpenTable, Resy or Bookatable.
As TechCrunch reports, the feature is taps into the idea of “serendipitous discovery” and could deliver marketing value to restaurants, venues and other destinations as Snapchat users would come across their information by virtue of being interested in the content of the snap.
Snapchat has indicated it will expand Context Cards over time, stating that it intends to add more partners and provide additional information as it learns about how to improve the feature.
