Facebook has changed the settings on your page so you now have 5,000 characters to write on a wall post – here are some ideas to get you started…
1. Interview an expert in your field, post the video on YouTube and link to it from your page.
2. Link to your website so that you can show off your product. However, always remember the 80/20 rule – 80% of the time adding value to your visitors to page and only 20% of the time promoting your business – any more and you might lose them.
3. Post a photo with an either/or choice, which do you prefer? Or who inspires you most?
4. Did you know 27% of people check their social networking account if they wake up in the middle of the night… is this you? (use Google to find statistics you can use).
5. Fill in the blank post eg. My favourite ice cream is XXX.
6. Use Facebook questions to do some market research on a product or service that you would like to add to your business.
7. Link to another tab on your Facebook page, since most people will read the posts in their newsfeed this saves them the hassle of having to go to your page first.
8. Upload a video related to your industry that made you laugh and you think would make your audience also laugh – something that would add value to their day.
9. Link to a podcast that is informative and on a relevant topic, something that they can learn from.
10. Relate your post to an event that is happening, eg. Christmas.
11. Post quizzes on your product or service or something relating to your industry.
12. Post photos of people using your product or service – make sure they are good ones! Sometimes a photo is as good as a review on your product or service.
13. Explain how to do something – everyone needs a helping hand every now and then.
14. Post a Facebook question – for example, to help you decide which expert to interview next, what video to record next or just to find out which celebrity is most followed.
15. Once you reach a milestone number of people who like your page thank everyone for doing so and do something special for them for the occasion, eg. giveaway a free eBook.
16. Start a 30 day challenge – for example: Start your business in 30 days – each day post a new tip which will get your audience closer to the end goal.
17. Get some discussion going with a question, such as: Would you rather be stuck in an elevator with George Clooney or Justin Bieber? Make this relevant to your audience.
