I’m getting confused about my business. I’m developing a new logo and keep getting different advice from people. What do you recommend?
It’s always hard when you are developing a new logo or name for your business. You end up asking lots of people, thinking that the more people that like it the better, and the more you ask the more likely you are to find people who like it, thus enabling you can make the decision.
At the end of the day, whether you are developing a new logo or changing an existing one, the most important person who likes it is you. Why?
You are:
- the person who is going to see it every day.
- going to be the one who is proud of it and what it stands for.
- the person who has to explain it if others don’t get it.
- the person who has to “be and live the brand/business”. So if your new logo is hot pink and you hate hot pink and you have to wear it on your shirt how happy will you be?
- the one with the power to change it.
Yes, your logo needs to fit your target audience, and yes it has to stand out from the crowd, but that still leaves lots of room to find one you like. I think you know deep down if you like the logo and if you don’t – say something! Changing or creating a logo is a big deal so take your time and trust your gut!
