Jo Burston is one of Australia’s most prominent entrepreneurs, running three businesses and regularly championing women in business.

Burston’s primary venture is recruitment agency, payroll and labour hire services firm Job Capital, founded in 2006 and with revenue of $37 million a year.

Burston told SmartCompany in 2013 she created Job Capital to improve the life of SME owners, saying the “best management decisions are formed when people get the necessary information as fast as possible”.

Burston also runs two other businesses with female entrepreneur mentoring and education company Rare Birds starting in in 2014, and entrepreneurial school and education resource company ‘startup.business’ beginning in 2016.

Rare Birds has teamed up with a number of Australian businesses to further promote women in business, including the China Australia Millennial Project (CAMP) in September last year, and has launched its own side businesses, including Rare Birds Speak, which claims to be the world’s first full-service women’s-only talent agency.
