An innovative Australian beauty product that scored a deal with four sharks in the most recent season of Shark Tank Australia has another feather in its cap after celebrity Kendall Jenner picked it to be included in the annual Kardashian-Jenner holiday gift guide.
Contour Cube was founded by Sarah Forrai and Lewis Battersby during the Covid-19 lockdowns of 2020 and makes specialised silicon moulds for ice blocks that allow users to turn tap water into cooling facial treatments.
According to Contour Cube, the DIY treatments help users to “wake up feeling refreshed, de-puff in the mornings, and achieve a natural facelift”.
Videos of the resulting ‘ice facials’ have now been seen more than 200 million times on social media, according to the brand.
The products are stocked in Priceline and Chemist Warehouse in New Zealand, and the brand has developed a considerable following on social media, particularly TikTok, where model, influencer and reality TV star Jenner has previously shared the benefits of the product.
Now, Contour Cube has been selected as one of 10 products in the annual holiday gift guide produced by Poosh, the wellness brand owned by Kourtney Kardashian.
Each of the famous sisters, as well as Kris Jenner, pick items to recommend as holiday gifts for the guide. The price tags for this year’s selection range from the Contour Cube, which retails in the US for US$24, to a US$2,500 sauna.
“I’ve been using – and loving – this Contour Cube for a while now,” Kendall Jenner says in the holiday guide.
“You can customise it with different ice recipes, and I think it makes a great stocking stuffer.”
Speaking to SmartCompany, Contour Cube co-founder Sarah Forrai says being included in Poosh’s third-holiday gift guide is an “incredible honour” and “a real game-changer for our brand”.
“It’s wild to reflect on how we went from just having an idea to making Contour Cube ice facials accessible to people all around the world,” she says.
“And now, having the Kardashians recommend Contour Cube as the stocking filler of choice and getting the Poosh seal of approval? It’s pretty unbelievable!
@contourcube OMG, I can’t even believe it! Contour Cube has become a skincare sensation! Our little idea has turned into a global phenomenon, and it’s just incredible. We’re shipping it all over the world, and guess what? Kendall herself is giving it some love! Pinch me, I must be dreaming! This is seriously the best thing ever! 🌟😍 #contourcube #iceonface

Shark Tank deal still in progress
Forrai says Contour Cube has now sold more than 100,000 Contour Cubes, with the brand’s recent appearance on Shark Tank Australia giving sales a healthy boost.
“We saw one of our biggest months in sales from appearing on Shark Tank and when we aired, we made six figures just that month,” says Forrai.
“We have even documented our Shark Tank experience and shared it across our social platforms and our TikTok videos alone have over 30 million views.”
The Contour Cube founders initially sought an investment of $250,000 for 10% equity in the business, when they entered the Shark Tank in September, and their pitch was enough to impress sharks Rob Herjavec, Sabri Suby, Davie Fogarty, and Jane Lu, who each offered $250,000 for 20% equity.
Forrai and Battersby eventually managed to negotiate a deal involving all four Sharks worth $375,000, in exchange for 30% equity.
The due diligence on the deal is still underway, says Forrai, with all parties working through the finer details.
“We’re really excited about moving forward,” she says.
“With the mentorship of the Sharks, we’re gearing up to take our business to new heights.”
