Name: Marcus Layton
Business name: Bizz Buzz
Age: 25
State: Victoria
Marcus Layton is the co-founder of Bizz Buzz, which describes itself as Australia’s only group-buying site dedicated to small business.
BizzBuzz features deals from the big guys like Couriers Please, MYOB and Vistaprint, all the way down to your more local level service provider.
However, Bizz Buzz is not Layton’s first venture – he’s the founder and former owner of pickup and delivery dry cleaning business Pinstripe, catering for the corporate market.
“The first customer I picked up for Pinstripe was Fairfax, so I spent a large amount of time putting together a proposal,” Layton says.
While tying up the sale of Pinstripe, Layton spent about a year deciding what to do next, looking at everything from a mail-order health food business to a textbook rental service.
“After deep research of the model, I was surprised to see that no group-buying contender had attempted to service small business owners,” he says.
“Bizz Buzz features deals from the big guys like Couriers Please, MYOB and Vistaprint, all the way down to your more local service provider.”
“In terms of what we’re looking to achieve with Bizz Buzz, I believe we’re going to reshape the advertising landscape within B2B.”
Layton says his age has never held him back because he’s not averse to learning – a necessary quality for any entrepreneur.
“It’s a matter of putting myself out there and learning from what was successful or areas I made mistakes in,” he says.
