Adam Dong is the co-founder of Pick A Quote, a system that reverses the order of how business is done in the services sector.
Pick A Quote enables customers to post their jobs on the site, which then sources the appropriate providers to quote for that job. Meanwhile, service providers can use the site as an advertising platform.
According to Dong, Pick A Quote has already attracted more than 10,000 customers, and was the first business in Australia to develop an iPhone app that allows users to post their jobs online.
“We provide services for over 34 categories across every state and major city in Australia. We have over $20 million in value of jobs posted throughout our site,” Dong says.
Pick A Quote is currently looking to partner up with online business directories and classified advertisement platforms such as Gumtree, Hipages and Hotfrog.
Dong attributes his success to good communication skills, mentoring and dressing well.
“From graduating with a law degree, I am able to confidently articulate myself in a way that is well understood and show that I am a subject matter expert in my field of work,” he says.
“My mentors have provided me with a lot of advice and business experience that assists me in understanding what I am doing and committing to,” he says.
“How you dress, and they way you dress, is important when people are assessing your age. I have always strived to present myself in the most professional manner in all interactions with the client and suppliers.”
