Australian startup idea incubator GetViable has been acquired by Bigcolors, a Hong Kong-based site that invests in early stage startups through its crowdfunding platform, or directly through its seed fund.
Founded in 2012 by Leslie Barry and Dougal Edwards, GetViable has worked with 2000 founders around the world and helped them develop their startup plans from idea to pitch.
GetViable will be integrated into Bigcolors in the next few months to help Bigcolors’ platform support early stage startups build viable businesses.
Bigcolors’ new investment platform will focus on helping startups to build their business from an idea, to getting initial investment and follow on investment and support.
Edwards told StartupSmart that Bigcolors had acquired GetViable in its entirety, but couldn’t provide any more information about the deal.
Edwards and Barry will support Bigcolors in an advisory capacity “in the near-term”.
“We’re passionate about the GetViable mission to activate entrepreneurship and getting more founders building better startups and we are confident that the Bigcolors team is best positioned to continue what we started,” he says.
In a statement announcing the move, Bigcolors co-founder and COO Jackie Lam says the acquisition is part of the company’s effort to ensure its founders are given all they require to be successful.
“We believe that founders should have all the right tools to give their startups the best chance of success and make their business case more compelling to investors,” she says.
“GetViable’s offering complements Bigcolors’ approach of investing in early stage startups. GetViable’s proven idea process encourages startups to consider the entire cycle of a startup, and developing a clear and structured business plan and investor toolkit.”
