Online research company Hitwise has put together a list of the most popular job searches by website, work location and job type among new-year job shifters.
The result provides something of a snapshot of the economy. The top search term by location was “perth jobs,” no doubt reflecting the perception that there is big money to be made in the resource rich west. Second was “uk jobs,” possibly because of the large number of Aussies who travel there each year and the many British backpackers returning home at the end of the Australian summer.
In terms of the type of job people are looking for, first on the list of searches is “government jobs” followed by “mining jobs” – perhaps because of the relatively high growth in wages in both of those sectors.
