The Federal Government has announced it will fund a project aimed at improving corporate social responsibility.
The Sydney-based St James Ethics Centre will receive $2 million in funding to help Australian businesses identify and adopt more responsible business practices.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made the comments during his keynote address to the National Business Leaders Forum on Sustainable Development.
“This new project is about working cooperatively with businesses to promote corporate social responsibility – not because they are forced to do so, but because they choose to,” he said.
“This new funding will allow the St James Ethics Centre to engage many more Australian businesses in identifying and adopting more responsible business practices – particularly small and medium sized companies, whose resources are often more limited.”
